Extraordinary Heroes

On November the 12th, The Lord Ashcroft Gallery ‘Extraordinary Heroes’ opened to the public with a display of 241 Victoria & George crosses.  In a new gallery space at the top of London’s Imperial War Museum, Berry Place installed a number of models to help tell the stories of some of the recipients of these medals.

In conjunction with Casson Mann as exhibition designers and Scena Projects as main contractors, Berry Place were initially involved in costing a number of items which gradually became refined down to half a dozen or so showpieces, many of which would be rigged above visitors heads.

Our contribution included a 9ft long aerial bomb, an aluminium Centurion tank, a 6ft wingspan Lancaster Bomber, a butterfly case full of tiny model planes, a scaled replica police car and a 15ft long German airship.

The gallery is due to be open for 10 years and is the largest display of it’s kind anywhere in the world.
